In 1952 under the Bulova company name, Max Hetzel, used a transistor in a wrist watch to develop a timepiece that would provide more accurate timing than the existing mechanical watches.

NASA asked Bulova in the 1960s to channel its Accutron efforts into making computers for the Space Program. As a result, Bulova's Accutron timing mechanism became an integral and vital part of space technology from the 1958 launch of Vanguard I to the first moon walk on July 21, 1969. A Bulova Accutron timer was placed on the moon's Sea of Tranquility to control the transmissions of vital data through the years.

In the 1970s in keeping with their commitment to defy technology Bulova created the first ‘Mini Accutron’. The small diameter of 19 mm made this movement suitable for use in ladies' watches.

Other features of Accutron watches include stainless steel construction, 23 karat gold finishes, superior scratch resistant sapphire crystals and water resistance from 30 to 200 meters.

The Accutron watches are designed in America and made in Switzerland.  With over twenty designs in the Accutron watch series there is a style to suit most ladies and men.  Prices average from between US$500 to US$2000.
