Christian Van Der Klaauw
Watches
Christian Van Der Klaauw
has been creating exceptional masterpieces since the year 1974. His works
depicts a clear reflection of his interests in astronomy, and is a combination
of timeless design and perfect craftsmanship. He made a major break through in
his career of watch making in the year 1992 when he received a gold medal for
his creation the “Pendule Variable” as the most innovative design at the Basle
watch fair. His current innovation and creative ideas has led him to create and
develop high quality watches.
The basic principle on
which Christian Van Der Klaauw watches work on is the Klaauw-Benzinger
movements, which are modified from the ETA- 2824-2 movements. Most of his
watches have the hand engraved rotor which is made out of 18 carat gold and the
movement of the rotor is termed as hand Guilloche. His collection includes an
interesting range of unique watches, which are really a class apart for their
rarity, elegancy, and their astronomical features and functions. The names are
Venus 2006, the Pendulum, the Ariadne, the Eclipse, Real Moon, and the Orione
and so on. Each model is exquisite piece of work having their own distinct
features such as crocodile leather straps, hand crafted needles, and cases of 18
carat gold, sapphire, or stainless steel. His astronomical knowledge is
perfectly depicted in the Venus showing the earth & Venus orbiting the sun and
the moon orbiting the earth. Other astronomical features described in his work
also includes the heliocentric revolutions of the planets in the Planetarium
2000, the sun and moon positions circling the dial and the day light indications
in the Moon Dial CK1 and so on.
