Founded in 1888 at Le Locle, high in the Neuchatel Mountains, the Jean d’Eve watch manufactory, which eventually gave birth to the Jean d'Eve watch range, has left its mark on the story of Swiss watchmaking. Indeed, it had key and outstanding position in watchmaking in latest of 18th century due to the rewarding of 3 Gold medals at world class exhibitions in 1896, 1889 and 1906. In 1970, it became the second largest producer of chronograph watches in Switzerland. The company continued to develop.
Although retrograde is currently one of the most desirable and popular complications among all high-end mechanical watch features, in 1981 when Jean d'Eve's first Sectora was launched, everybody was surprised by its breakthrough design of 120 degree retrograde hour and minute display. Jean d'Eve's unremitting on retrograde not only brings the brand a successful “Sector Legend” but also, in some way, awakened this old watch technique and lead it to today's glory.
Over 25 years passed by while the evergreen Sectora remained the most relevant model among Jean d'Eve collections. At the 2006 Basel Fair, Jean d'Eve was very proud of launching a new model Sectora II Automatic. Compared to the last generation, Sectora II Automatic has more extended shape, more close to a real sector which it was originally inspired from. In the meantime the new model has turned 90 degree, which results a more dramatic “flying up and down”, compare to the previous model “flying left and right”.
Being a pioneer of mechanical retrograde watch, Jean d’Eve will continue the “Sector Legend” which was started 25 years ago.
