Daniel JeanRichard started his watch crafting affair when he was barely fifteen. He fixed a timepiece brought from England and at the fresh age of sixteen, developed his own timepiece which was perhaps the premier watch to be produced in the Jura region. This man, considered to be the true master of the Jura watchmakers, is said to set the guidelines of genuine Swiss watch fabrication. The strict rules in manufacturing timepieces were set by him in order to retain the indigenousness of top quality Swiss timepieces. As a tribute to this master of JeanRichard watches, La-Chaux-de-Fonds has a street christened after him, a statue of the maestro in le Locle and a museum honoring him in la Sagne.
