MeisterSinger WatchesMeistersine watches get their name from an interesting fact; In the vocal schools of the receding middle ages, the meister singer appellation was granted to the pupil who best understood how to strike each new note. Richard Wagner's chorale "Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg" is based on this little piece of history, as are the world-renown Meistersinger watches. As the founder and designer of MeisterSinger watches, Manfred Brassler had already attracted at lot of interest in the 1990s with his Watch People brand, and this newest brand solidified his place in watchmaker history. These wristwatches, with their close links to the tradition of the German Bauhaus School of design and with their high functionality and minimalist look were selected among many other designs by the German design award panels. What especially caught their eye were the way Manfred Brassler’s Meistersinger watches brought married the experience of old world watches to with the conception of modern designer watches. In certain respects, Meistersinger represents the quintessence of their creator’s long-standing involvement with watches. Today, all MeisterSinger models get their strong personality from rather subtle stylistic devices, including the combination of sober numbering, with a preceding nought for the units and restrained typography, with the distinctive needle hands and the agreeably soft form of the case with its convex glass.
