Mellerio dits Meller Watches

The creation of Mellerio dits Meller watches was triggered off by one of the members, Jacques Pido of the Mellerio family of the French village Lombardy. Following a historical event, the Mellerio commenced its business in the french capital at the end of the 17th century. After several years, in the early 19th century, Paris finally recognized the creations of the Mellerio. Thus the business story of Mellerio began. This was the founding stone of the present brand Mellerio dits Meller watches.

Technically speaking, Mellerio dits Meller, was founded by François Mellerio in the 18th century. Francois was lucky enough to get noticed by Empress Josephine who used to buy petit products from him. The emperor’s family eventually became the client of the atelier of François. In 1815 when the empire had fallen, François shifted his studio from rue Marengo to 22, Rue de la Paix. In 1816 he made his sibling Jean- Jacques his business partner.

The business of Mellerio dits Meller was augmented when the Duc d’Orleans sat on the throne in the year 1830. This was because, being a favorite among the aristocrats and the royals, Mellerio was highly acclaimed by the Orleans family.

The 1848 French revolution was a blow to the royal families as well as Mellerio. The revolt brought economic crisis. So the Mellerio siblings toyed with a new idea - of traversing the boundaries of France. In 1850, Mellerio moved to Spanish, its second empire was established.

The company of Mellerio dits Meller watches, with a royal connection, is now a member of the haute jewelers of Gaulle.
