Mühle-Glashütte Watches
Mühle-Glashütte Watches were founded by The great-grandfather of the current owner, Hans-Jürgen Mühle, more than 135 years ago, contributing considerably to Glashütte’s modern reputation as the centre of the German clock-making industry. Hans-Jürgen Mühle built and sold measuring instruments for the local clock manufacturers and his grandson, Hans Mühle, found his way back into measurement engineering after 1945, but was dispossessed as part of East German collectivization.
After the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1994, the Mühle-Glashütte watch company returned into the ownership of the family, who envisaged a promising market in the manufacture and marketing of ship’s clocks and ship’s clock systems (hence the name ‘Nautische Instrumente Mühle-Glashütte’).
Later on the Mühle-Glashütte company to add high-precision wrist-watches to their line of products, a decision that proved extremely successful, so much in fact, that this branch of business has turned into Mühle-Glashütte’s core success.
