Officine Panerai Watches

Officine Panerai, the watch brand from Florence was established by Giovanni Panerai in 1860. He with the aid of the skilled watchmakers of Switzerland made the timepiece business a success. Later Leon Francesco took over the business of his father. At the termination of the 19th century, Leon’s son, Guido Panerai, joined the family business and instilled in it a novel vigor. At the commencement of the 20th century, the atelier of the watch enterprise shifted to a new address in Florence and remains there till date. At that particular time, Officine Panerai watches became the supplier of mechanical devices and precision optical to the ministry of Defence.

20th century also saw Officine Panerai’s novel venture in crafting other devices like torches, underwater tools, wrist compasses and wrist depth gauges which the company delivered to the royal Italian navy.

In 1936, under the request of the royal Italian navy, Officine Panerai developed a wristwatch that has resistance against the extreme adverse conditions. This particular timepiece was cleared by the command of the first submarine group.

After 50years of various experiments and innovations in watch crafting, this watch brand developed a novel marvel in 1980. A wristwatch was created which can withstand the pressure resembling 1000 meters deep!
