Oris Watches
Oris watches have been known for their classical style and precision mechanical movements, combining traditional watchmaking techniques with modern micro technology. Oris currently produces many fine timepieces, including functional diver’s watches, distinguished pilot’s watches, and complications.
The legacy of Oris watches began in 1904 with just 24 workmen who took over the recently closed down watch firm Lohner & Co in the valley of Waldenburg, Switzerland, opening a new chapter I the history of superior Swiss timepeices.
In 1906, Oris watches were produced in the first of ten branches in Switzerland, and in 1910, Oris employed over 300 people at their Hölstein location, soon becoming the biggest employer in the area.
From 1925 on, the Oris legacy grew and the firm specialized in the production of affordable, high-quality watches, selling mainly to eager ready buyers in England and South America. In the 1960s, the Oris watch company grew to a staff of about 800, and found their place among the ten biggest watch producers in Switzerland.
Today, Oris watches are defined by their classical design, artfully crafted dials with chiselled structures and extra large crowns (Big Crown). Inspired by the WWII pilot’s watches, the Oris watch collection appeals to enthusiasts and watch collectors from around the globe.
