Pierre Cardin WatchesPierre Cardin watches are inspired and designed by one of fashions leading designers, and have been trendsetting on and off the runway. Born near Venice, Italy, Pierre Cardin moved to Paris in 1945, where he studied architecture and worked with Paquin after the war. Work with Schiaparelli followed until he became head of Christian Dior's tailleure atelier in 1947, but was denied work at Balenciaga. Pierre Cardin than went on to found his own house in 1950 and began with haute couture in 1953. Known for his avant-garde style and his space age designs, Pierre Cardin is known best as one of fashion’s front men, but he is also a couturier, a diplomat, owner of Maxim’s and an art leader. He prefers geometric shapes and motifs, often ignoring the female form, and this can be seen in his style of signature watches. He advanced into unisex fashions, sometimes experimental, and not always practical, and is well-known for introduced the famous "bubble dress" in 1954. Cardin was the first couturier to turn to Japan as a high fashion market when he travelled there in 1959, although was later expelled from the Chambre Syndicale for launching a ready-to-wear collection for the Printemps department store as the first couturier in Paris, but was soon reinstated. As a result, he resigned from the Chambre Syndicale in 1966 and now shows his collections in his own venue, the Espace Cardin, which he opened in 1971 in Paris. The Espace Cardin is also used to promote new artistic talents, like theater ensembles, musicians, etc. Today, Pierre Cardin watches are known among the world’s best, and are the “haute”est accessory around.
