The Van Der Bauwede watch legacy began when founder Maxence Van Der Bauwede settled in Geneve in the early ‘80s after working for the largest Swiss watch companies in the world. Max Van Der Bauwede was born in 1873 in the town of Brugge, which was then known as a “Northern Venice”, and it was here that he was responsible for installation and upkeeping of sophisticated watch mechanisms on the town’s cathedrals, castles and towers. Alexis had to work with mechanism that often weighed a few tons, but he devoted his free time to his first passion---the making of miniature hand watches. Throughout the generations of Van Der Bauwede’s, all of his grandsons inherited their grandfather’s passion for watch making., and now Van Der Bauwede offers elegantly designed timepieces of the finest quality and craftsmanship.
