The tradition of fine Vostok began in Moscow in 1942 when one of the Moscow watch-making plants was evacuated and moved to a factory in the quaint town of Chistopol, located on the Kama River in the central region of Russia. This new factory produced various types of Defense equipment during the war years, but was then used to make mechanical wristwatches, and has been the anchor of the Vostok watch company ever since.
In 1965, two exciting things happened: the Vostok watch company a became an official supplier of the Soviet Union Department of Defence and the world famous "Komandirskie" ("Commanders") wristwatches were debuted by Vostok watches, demonstrating the highest standards of precision, reliability, and resistance to unfavourable conditions.
