Yves Saint Laurent, watches, named after the famous French designer Yves Saint Laurent himself, are on the cutting edge of fashion, and inspired by the infamous legacy of the YSL collection,
Born in 1936, Algerian-born Yves Saint Laurent was first noted in the fashion world for winning first prize in the International Wool Secretariat contest for his cocktail dress design in 1954, before he landed the job of Haute Couture designer, at Christian Dior, when Dior died in 1957. Following a stint in the army in 1960, Yves Saint Laurent opened his own couture house in 1962, and the rest is history!
In 1966, Yves Saint Laurent opened The Rive Gauche boutiques for women and , in the ‘70s, a menswear line followed, propelling the YSL into worldwide fame In addition to Yves Saint Laurent watches, YSL is most known for "Le Smoking" tuxedo jacket, see-through blouses, peasant blouses, bolero jackets, pantsuits and smocks. YSL set new standards for global fashion by feminizing the basic shapes of the male wardrobe, and adapting the male tuxedo for women, along with safari jackets and pea jackets.
In 1989, Yves Saint Laurent was awarded a 'Lifetime Achievement’ award from The Council of Fashion Designers of America, and, although now retired, his legacy lives on in his brilliant Yves Saint Laurent watch collection.
